Benefits of getting involved with the BVCA:
Strengthen Community Bonds: Getting involved helps you connect with your neighbors and build stronger relationships within the community.
Make a Positive Impact: By participating in community initiatives, you can have a direct and positive impact on the neighborhood and its residents.
Voice Your Concerns: It's an opportunity to raise issues, suggest improvements, and have a say in community decisions.
Community Improvement: Work together with your neighbors to enhance the quality of life in Bennett Valley, whether through beautification projects, safety initiatives, or cultural events.
Your participation can make a real difference in Bennett Valley!
Join the BVCA Board: We will have two open positions on the BVCA Board, and now is a great time to join our Board and help our community. This is not a time-consuming activity. We usually hold 8 meetings per year, most by videoconference and 2-3 in person. An important role is Secretary and this position needs to be filled by January 2025. The main responsibility is to record the meeting minutes. This is a great way to learn about the board and get more involved as your time and interests allow.
Please contact Moira Jacobs, President at moiraajacobs@comcast.net for interest in Board positions and committee volunteer opportunities below.
Other Volunteer/Board Committee support roles:
Webmaster: Our website is not complicated, a fairly well-oiled machine. We need someone who could devote a couple hours every month to keep a few things updated and help get the Newsletter out to our subscriber list. Our Editor in Chief Chris Gralapp would appreciate the partnership!
Writers/Reporters at Large: Do you like to write? Do you have a hobby or special interest? Our readers are very interested in articles written by residents who share their passion and interests in all topics: Bennett Valley Flora/Fauna, Vineyards, Orchards, Ranching, Equitation, Hiking, Astronomy, Science, History, Music, Gardening, Local Politics…you get the picture! Bennett Vallians are interested in everything! Please contact Chris Gralapp with your articles and proposals: editor@bennettvalley.org .
Emergency Preparedness: We’re looking for 2-3 folks who’d form a committee on this topic, you can be a Board member or not. The committee would be a resource in terms of knowing relevant County and State contacts, staying informed about best practices, sharing knowledge with our community.
BVCA Annual Picnic Committee: This is fun and social volunteering work. Help keep our community connected by helping with our annual potluck picnic at Galvin Park. Jennifer Beer has made this a nice turnkey event, everyone shows up with their own food, things to share. We always have nice live music as we enjoy a relaxing afternoon under the shady oaks.
BVCA County Advocacy/Ambassador: Are you diplomatic and care about keeping Bennett Valley safe and beautiful? Consider being a BVCA Ambassador, attend a few meetings a year with various County officials to keep our community’s interests recognized and addressed.
