BVCA now able to receive donations of stock, securities and mutual funds!
Through a new non-profit account BVCA opened with Edward Jones on Farmers Lane in Santa Rosa, those interested can now make donations of securities or mutual funds holdings which can provide tax benefits (check with your financial or tax advisor).
If you’d like to support our many efforts to ensure Bennett Valley retains its rural character, wide open spaces and safe habitats for our diverse flora and fauna, you can now donate securities or mutual fund holdings directly to this new account. All donations to the BVCA Edward Jones account will be dedicated to the fund our donors wish to support, including our new Conservancy Fund.
By donating stock that has appreciated for more than a year, you are actually giving 20 percent more than if you sold the stock and then made a cash donation. The reason is simple: avoiding capital gains taxes.
Donors can also in some cases claim a tax deduction for the fair market value of donated stock.
For directions on how to donate, please contact President Moira Jacobs at moiraajacobs@comcast.net who can send you the delivery instructions.
