Happy revelers dine al fresco at the 152nd annual BV Grange Picnic
By Moira Jacobs
Our historic Bennett Valley Grange has been buzzing with activity this year, continuing a 152-year tradition of community gathering. Events kicked off with the Junior League of Napa-Sonoma’s annual planning meeting, followed by a March concert celebrating Le Mois de la Francophonie, featuring the French duo Jane for Tea and the French American Charter School Choir.

April and May brought a flurry of events: a Daughters of the American Revolution tea, radio amateur trainings, Redwood Empire Boy Scouts award ceremonies, and major civic gatherings co-hosted with the Bennett Valley Community Association (BVCA). On April 30, we welcomed Permit Sonoma for a Town Hall on the County’s General Plan. In May, our Emergency Preparedness Open House brought CAL FIRE, CHP, PG&E, HALTER Project, Sonoma County Emergency Management, Sonoma County Fire District, Sonoma County Radio Amateurs, Sonoma County Sheriff and other first responders, together with residents for an afternoon of vital information-sharing.
The Halter Project was one of the many exhibits at the Emergency Preparedness Open House in May
Our 152nd annual Founders Day BBQ & Picnic on June 1st was a joyful highlight. With live 60s music from the Pisenti family’s band The Music Club, cherry pit spitting contests, and dozens of raffle prizes—from local wine to handmade crafts—the day was festive and full of heart. We even welcomed back our friends from “All About A Farm” petting zoo thanks to a BVCA donation.
Special thanks to our sponsors, volunteers, and community partners, including Sonoma County Search & Rescue, Redwood Empire Boy Scouts, Jones Family /Aesthete Wines, BV Grape Growers, and the Pisenti family.
Our Grange has also hosted a number of weddings and other private events this year. (Holding your special private event at our historic Grange will provide memories for a lifetime!)
